The EuroLeague match between Paris Basketball and Fenerbahçe Istanbul, initially scheduled for this Thursday evening, should be postponed due to an epidemic affecting the Parisian squad, according to our information and that of BasketNews. The majority of Parisian players fell ill, making it impossible to field a competitive squad.
The first signs of this situation appeared at the start of the week, notably with the absence of TJ Shorts (1.75 m, 27 years old), Yakuba Ouattara (1.90 m, 32 years old) and Enzo Shahrvin (2.01 m , 21 years old) during the match against Real Madrid last Tuesday. Paris coach Tiago Splitter then spoke of symptoms resembling a virus or food poisoning, affecting not only his players but also himself.
“After the match against ASVEL, several guys started to feel bad. The virus probably took a few days to spread. We are always together, in the locker room, in meetings, so it was transmitted quickly,” Splitter explained.
This meeting should therefore be the first of the season to be postponed in the EuroLeague. A new date will be determined soon.
Paris and Fenerbahçe in a complicated situation recently
This postponement comes as both teams are going through a complicated period. Paris Basketball remains on two consecutive losses against ASVEL and Real Madrid, while Fenerbahçe suffered severe defeats against Monaco (69-99) and Barcelona (63-90).
