Should you bet on the Broncos or Chargers in Thursday night’s game?
Here we have a great battle in the Western section of the American Association between two teams likely to win a “wildcard” place. Los Angeles is one game behind Denver, but the Chargers could overtake the Broncos with a win, since they already beat them earlier this year.
After analyzing the confrontation, I decided to side with the Chargers, favorites at 2.5 points. However, this is a very conservative bet, as I don’t necessarily have a lot of confidence in this option. This isn’t one of my favorite bets for Week 15, but I still think it has a little expected value.
The Broncos have won four straight games. Hats off, but you have to take into account the strength of the opposition. The combined record of their last four opponents is 18-38. Now, facing the much tougher Chargers on the road will be a good test for Denver.
During this time, these seem to fade a little. They have gone 1-3 in their last four games. Their defense has allowed more yards lately. This culminated in a dreadful performance last week against Tampa, which racked up over 500 total yards on offense.
But you know what? I think this is a good opportunity for Jim Harbaugh’s defense to bounce back and elevate with a convincing outing during a prime time game. They will certainly show up with pressure on their shoulders. I think they will make life difficult for Bo Nix and company.
Yes, the Broncos had an easy and convincing 31-13 victory over the Colts. But you may be surprised to learn that Denver only totaled 193 yards.
In that matchup, Nix threw three interceptions, while racking up just 130 passing yards on 33 attempts, which equates to a measly 3.9 yards per attempt. He needs to do a much better job against a much stiffer Chargers defense on Thursday night if the Broncos want to win.
Enjoy the match!
