After the destruction of two agricultural sheds in Andres, the investigation is moving towards a arson. A 22-year-old young man was taken into custody. He is also suspected of causing other fires.

On this farm on rue de Balinghem, in Andres, several months of work went up in smoke on the night of December 8. The flames ravaged two buildings of 600 and 800 m²which contained hundreds of bales of flax, tons of potatoes as well as agricultural equipment. The damage is estimated at two million euros.

A judicial investigation was immediately opened blatantlyentrusted to the gendarmerie units of the company, with the participation of the Fréthun brigade community, the Calais research brigade and the criminal investigation cell. These teams intervene on charges of destruction of property by fire or dangerous means.

Thanks to their investigations, a 22-year-old young man has been identified as the main suspect. Placed in police custody on December 10, he was also questioned in connection with three other fires that occurred between October 2021 and December 2024.

At the end of this police custody, the suspect was referred to the public prosecutor’s office on December 12. A judicial investigation was opened for several acts of destruction or damage to property by dangerous meanscovering the incidents of 2021, 2023 and that of last December 8.

Indicted, he was placed in pre-trial detention by the judge of freedoms and detention. As a reminder, these acts of destruction or degradation are punishable by 10 years of imprisonment.
