The 9th art is in the spotlight at the RTL microphone. For 21 years, the radio station has designated a monthly “ Comic of the month», in partnership with Cultura. This results in nine candidates for the title of Grand Prix de la BD RTL, decided by a jury composed of: Arnaud Mulpas, Céline Landreau (RTL), Cannelle Lasserre (Cultura), Sébastien Godfroy (Cultura), François Larroudie from the Case à Bulle bookstore and Marion Carémet from the Sanzot bookstore.
Works recognized today appear on the list of winners, such as The Arab of the futureby Riad Sattouf (Allary), big winner of the 2014 edition, who subsequently won the Fauve d’or for best album in 2015 in Angoulême, then the 2023 Grand Prix of the Angoulême Festival.
Last year, Christophe Chabouté was honored with the title of winner of the RTL BD 2023 prize for his work Muséepublished by Vents d’Ouest. The cartoonist thus offered a poetic dive into the heart of the Musée d’Orsay, where works of art come to life once night falls, observing and commenting on the visitors of the day.
Ulysse & Cyrano2024 winner
For this new edition, the jury crownedUlysse & Cyranoby Xavier Dorison, Antoine Cristau, and Stéphane Servain, published by Casterman. Together, they tell the story of Ulysse Ducerf, a studious teenager, but disinterested in mathematics, preparing to take his baccalaureate.
His future seems locked by his father’s ambitions: to join the École Polytechnique before taking the reins of the family cement works. But everything changes when the past resurfaces: the family business is accused of having collaborated in the German war effort a decade earlier. Forced to flee accusing eyes, the Ducerfs moved to Burgundy.
It is there that Ulysses crosses paths with Cyrano, a solitary and rough man, passionate about gastronomy. Fascinated by this universe, the young man discovers a new horizon where culinary art mixes with the quest for oneself. This story, both initiatory and tasty, transports the reader to the France of the Trente Glorieuses, questioning timeless themes: what is happiness? How to free yourself from a predefined destiny to build your own path?
