Adobe revealed its ambitious plans for Lightroom and Photoshop in 2025, promising major innovations for the photo. However, this technological advance is accompanied by news that could make people cringe: a price increase for certain Creative Cloud Photography subscriptions from January 2025
Promising innovations for 2025
In a blog post, Adobe presented several major improvements planned for its flagship software in 2025. The company focuses on the core demands of the photography community, including sorting, editing and sharing photos.
One of the most anticipated innovations concerns the automatic sorting of photos. Artificial intelligence will also play a crucial role in future updates. Adobe plans to expand features like Generative Remove in Lightroom and Distraction Removal in Photoshop, making it easier to removing unwanted items in the pictures. These AI-based tools aim to accelerate the photographer workflow while being designed to be “commercially safe” according to the publisher.

Adobe does not neglect either the sharing aspectcrucial for many photographers. The company promises to improve sharing options to “make it easier to share photos while giving you a better ability to express your personal brand.”
Finally, Adobe plans to introduce more quick actionsoffering “smart, one-click editing suggestions tailored to the content of your photo.” The objective is to enabling photographers to quickly create stunning, shareable images.
An increase in the prices of certain Photo subscriptions
Alongside these promising announcements, Adobe has revealed a price increase for some of its Creative Cloud Photography subscriptions. The company justifies this decision by stating that “for more than a decade, we have brought photographers hundreds of innovative features in Lightroom and Photoshop without changing the price of our subscriptions. Today we are announcing an update to these plans for better reflect the value that applications provide« .
The most notable changes concern subscription Creative Cloud Photography (20 GB), monthly price increased from $9.99 to $14.99 per month with an annual commitment, and subscription Lightroom (1 To), who sees his monthly price increase from $9.99 to $11.99, more now includes Lightroom Classic.
Please note that the Creative Cloud Photography 20 GB offer, which includes Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and Photoshop, will no longer be offered to new customers.
For his part, the Creative Cloud Photography 1TB subscription does not changewith a price of $19.99 per month and $239.88 per year.
Adobe explains that “Existing members who pay monthly can upgrade to the prepaid annual plan to maintain the $9.99/month price” for an additional year.
This price risealthough justified by Adobe as reflecting the added value of its products, could provoke mixed reactions within the photography community. The future will tell if new features promised for 2025 will be sufficiently revolutionary to convince users of the relevance of this price increase.
It is important to remember that, despite inflation, and this since 2013year of the transition to all-subscription, Adobe has not increased the prices of its offers for photographers.
If you were planning to take out a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography, you still have until January 15, 2025 before the price change.
