Trois-Rivières police announced that the fire was fatal. The victim is a 55-year-old man who was reportedly found unresponsive by firefighters in a room on the second floor of the building above the room on the first floor where the fire was raging. He had been taken to hospital.
The police officers monitored the flow of traffic in the area in the morning.
Vehicle traffic in the area is also significantly slowed down according to the interactive map from the Ministry of Transport.
