Pleasant surprise: thanks to a new 5-seater variant, the Hyundai Inster is eligible for the ecological bonus. It could start at €21,000.

In a short press release, Hyundai “announces the arrival of a 5-seater version for the Inster”, its small 100% electric city car. But this news hides something much more important: the car will be entitled to the ecological bonus.

However, it was not a given, because the car is produced in South Korea. However, for a year now, to be eligible for the bonus, you have to pass the eco-score test. This is calculated from the carbon footprint of the production of the vehicle and its transport to .

And to put it simply, getting the bonus if you don’t produce in Europe is almost mission impossible. However, as the eco-score is based on a complete formula, you can in certain cases succeed in getting the bonus, by gaining points on certain elements. The Mazda MX-30, assembled in Japan, proved this, aided by its small battery.

It was therefore by moving from 4 to 5 places that Inster was able to obtain the bonus, the additional place influenced the result of the eco-score by weighting the points of the calculation differently.

The 5 seater is at the price of the 4 seater. The access price thus remains at €25,000. Which can give €21,000 with the maximum bonus now set at €4,000 for French people whose reference tax income per share goes up to €16,300.

There is a small downside with the 5-seater version. We lose modularity since the bench is no longer sliding and the backrests no longer tilt.

The 4 seater does not have the bonus.
