« It’s a question of dignity and respect. » It was with these words (among others) that Juan, a Spanish student living in Grenoble, addressed the Crous Grenoble-Alpes reporting unit, after an incident that occurred in the university restaurant (RU) Le Cadran Solaire in La Tronche, Thursday December 12, 2024. The young man also wrote to the management of the Crous… and contacted the media, including Place Gre’netbecause he refuses “ to let this pass ».

The incident in question comes from a very anecdotal fact: on December 11, Juan and his friend Clémence took their meal in the UK. Both scholarship holders, they must pay one euro per meal, but one of the two meals is billed at the non-stock market price, i.e. 3.30 euros.
The Crous employee then explains to Juan that she cannot reimburse him, but offers him free meals the following day, as reimbursement. The next day, the couple asked to be able to benefit from their two free meals.
What seemed like a formality then takes an unexpected and unpleasant turn, to say the least, according to Juan. The Sundial waitress they encountered immediately adopted an unpleasant attitude, refusing the arrangement agreed upon the day before and asking the two students to move to the side. The couple then decided to go see the employee with whom they had spoken the day before to clarify things.
