We now know the route of the 83rd edition of Paris-Nice, which will take place from March 9 to 16, 2025.
Who to succeed Matteo Jorgenson? The American was the strongest during the 2024 version of Paris-Nice. The rider from the Visma-Lease a Bike team will be one of the favorites for the 2025 Race to the Sun… just like his leader, a certain Jonas Vingegaard. The Dane is announced to be present at the start on March 9, near Yvelines.
The double winner of the Tour de France will be the huge favorite for a Race to the Sun which suits him perfectly on paper. In addition to the three stages promised to sprinters and some intended for adventurers, the favorites in the general classification will be able to compete from Tuesday March 11. That day, time for a team time trial starting from the Nevers-Magny Cours circuit.
A decisive Colmiane – Auron sequence
But it is above all the last weekend which will make the salt of this 83rd edition of Paris-Nice. On Saturday March 15, it’s time for a 7th stage which will allow the peloton to tackle the ascent of the Col de la Colmiane, before arriving at Auron (7.3 km at 7.2%). Wiped off the map in 2024 due to weather conditions, the two difficulties should indeed be there in 2025.
On Sunday March 16, the fight for the general classification will reach a decisive turning point. Before the traditional arrival on the Promenade des Anglais, the peloton will continue the climbs of the Col de la Porte (7 km at 7.2%), the Côte de la Peille (6.5 km at 6.9%) and the Col des Quatre Chemins (3.6 km at 8.8%). So many summits which gave rise to a spectacular 2024 Race to the Sun… which should again be the case next March.
