The Society of Members of the Legion of Honor (SMLH) awards each year a prize called “Honour in Action”. It rewards those who put their energy, talent, time and dedication in the service of others. In 2024, the new building project initiated by the Apiary School of Rocamadour and supported by the Lot section of the SMLH, was selected to appear on the list of those which were selected, with around twenty projects from other associations sharing the same values.
The prize, classified in the “Transmission of know-how” category, was presented Thursday, December 5 at the Hôtel des Invalides in Paris by Admiral Coldefy, president of the SMLH, to General Jean-Paul Picco, leader of the project, who represented both the Lot section of the SMLH and the Apiary school of Rocamadour of which he is the honorary president.
In a brief speech, General Picco, on behalf of the Lot section, thanked the SMLH and its president. He expressed all the honor felt by all the beekeepers of the Apiary school of Rocamadour for this prize of which they are particularly proud and grateful. By its amount and especially by the prestige it confers, it will considerably help them in the objective of developing a new structure. Offering functional spaces, it will allow them to better ensure, in a lasting manner, the transmission of knowledge to beekeepers in training, the reception of the public and schools, the development of social bonds, the preservation of bees and biodiversity and contribution to the local economy.
