A fire broke out in an apartment building on rue Laviolette, in the Saint-François-d’Assise district of Trois-Rivières, Tuesday afternoon. The Ville de Trois-Rivières firefighters received the call around 2:30 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, flames were already visible on the roof of the building. The Fire Safety Department of the City of Trois-Rivières indicates that the fire started at the rear of the building.
It is a building with six apartments. Residents in the area were all evacuated.

Around fifty firefighters battled the flames.

According to Dany Cloutier, one of the challenges was to ensure that the fire did not cross into other adjacent buildings. Only the siding of the building located directly to the left of the fire was damaged.
