Nicole Kidman learned of her mother’s death when she arrived in Italy while attending the Venice Film Festival, where she received the Best Actress award for her new film Babygirl. The Australian actress announced the death of her “beautiful and courageous“mother, Janelle, shortly after receiving her award on September 7, 2024. Devastated, Nicole Kidman sent a statement read by the Dutch director of BabygirlHalina Reijn.
“I am in shock and I have to go see my family. But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me. The collision between life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken” said the actress in poignant words. At the time of her death, Janelle Kidman was 84 years old. Nicole’s father, Antony Kidman, passed away a few years ago in 2014, at the age of 75.
