An operation that could have cost him his life… A few weeks after appearing almost naked at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, Philippe Katerine bared all while discussing personal memories on the set of the show Les rencontres du Papotin, Saturday September 7, 2024. After assuring that he drove “like a grandmother” and that he had told himself several times that he would have “preferred to be a girl rather than a boy”, the 55-year-old singer was asked about his heart operation, which took place in 1976. “I was eight years old, but I remember it like it was yesterday. My heart stopped beating, it seems for 17 minutes, but I was asleep and it was taken over by an engine,” he recalled, before sharing: “What I could say is that when I’m late, I’m always 17 minutes late again today. It’s like I’m always 17 minutes behind in my life. It was very weird when I realized that.”

Although he has very few memories of his operation, the man who categorically refuses to be a coach on The Voice mostly remembers waking up. “I was out of it for three days. Completely out of it,” he said before adding: “I saw things that I will always remember, magnificent things that looked a bit like death. Well, that’s how I understood it.
