The driver of the hit car was seriously injured, while his wife – who was sitting in the front passenger seat – died in the accident. She was 62 years old.
Serious pileup
A tragedy which did not stop there, since the driver behind this first accident caused a serious pile-up. In the third car impacted, a pregnant woman, aged 26, was behind the wheel. A judicial investigation was opened on Friday by the Libourne public prosecutor's office on charges of “aggravated involuntary injuries” and “involuntary homicide aggravated by the circumstances of driving under the influence of an alcoholic state and after the use of narcotics “.
