Toulouse town hall has issued an emergency decree concerning the building located at 13 rue Denfert-Rochereau. Saturday December 14, 2024, a worrying crack appeared on a load-bearing wall of the building in the center of Toulouse. The firefighters, alerted in the middle of the day, immediately evacuated the residents as well as those of the adjacent buildings at numbers 11 and 15, a total of 17 people. Municipal services, after a thorough inspection, confirmed the need for urgent intervention.
Multiple cracks
The mayor of Toulouse published a security order on December 17, 2024. This building, made up of two buildings intended for housing, presents serious risks for the safety of its occupants and local residents. Inspections conducted on December 14 and 16 revealed significant structural damage. Among the anomalies noted: multiple cracks in a 2nd floor apartment (lot 7), subsidence in a weakened beam (lot 6), as well as advanced deterioration of the wooden joists and corroded metal reinforcements in the cellars and the garage (lot 5).

7 days to evacuate and secure
The owners have 24 hours to evacuate the premises and 7 days to secure the most damaged elements, in particular the floors and the beam concerned. Municipal authorities are calling on owners to carry out regular checks and report any anomalies likely to compromise the safety of occupants.
