On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 November, the Protestant Entraide du Gard rhodanien is launching its annual food bank collection in several supermarkets in Bagnols-sur-Cèze (Intermarché, Carrefour, Netto and Aldi).
“There is no such thing as a small donation” and every gesture of solidarity makes a difference. Like every year, you will have the opportunity to freely purchase essential and durable products in participating supermarkets (Intermarché, Carrefour, Netto or Aldi). Every donation counts, whether it is a packet of pasta or a full trolley, insists the association. These products will then be distributed throughout the year to people in precarious situations.
Faced with the growth in the unemployment rate in Bagnols, exceeding 10% and a poverty rate reaching 27%, the demand for help is increasing. “We are seeing more and more children and women alone”specifies Christian Apothéloz, president of Entraide protestante du Gard rhodanien. “Our stocks are insufficient to meet demand. With an in-kind donation, you are sure that it will go directly to people in need, without an intermediary”he adds.
The association solicits the generosity of the inhabitants of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, who have always shown solidarity “never found fault”. Food bank collections represent a specific opportunity to fight against food insecurity.
