the essential
Reaching a century of life is never a trivial thing, whether for the family or those around them. It is this symbolic date that Colette Vaillant has just celebrated within the Emeis structure of the Tour de Pujols.
On October 17, Colette Vaillant celebrated her 100th birthday. She celebrated this event on October 26 in the company of her family: her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as the employees of the residence. Colette was born on October 17, 1924 in Paris, near Buttes Chaumont. Only daughter of Yvonne and André, she has always been very spoiled. His father often said: “You're so successful that we're not going to risk doing a second one.”
During the war, when she was a child, her family always found solutions to live well, going to glean in order to be able to feed themselves. “I have always been lucky in life,” says Colette, speaking of her husband Pierre, whom she describes as “charming, adorable and always considerate.” Unfortunately, he left too soon, but Colette remembers with fondness: “I often told him: With Pierre Vaillant, nothing is impossible.” Together, they had two boys, Stéphane and Didier.
Colette has always loved working in an office, but when she was told she was retiring, she responded with a big “Whew”, as she admits with a smile: “I'm a bit lazy by nature, if I can avoid the chores.” In retirement, she enjoyed her garden, tending a well-flowered path, and devoting herself to reading.
“My memory is failing, I don’t remember very well,” she jokes, quoting Jeanne Moreau. But at 100 years old, she doesn't worry about it. Today, at the Emeis la Tour de Pujols residence, she enjoys being pampered by staff whom she finds “very pleasant.”
Always in a good mood, Colette describes herself as easy-going.
