President Diomaye Faye urges students to

The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, arrived at 10:24 a.m. at the Demba Diop high school with the First Lady, Marie Khone Faye, as well as the Minister of Education, Moustapha Guirassy.

The Head of State chairs the “Setal Sunu Reew” citizen mobilization day which is held at the Demba Diop high school. He was welcomed by the administrative authorities of Mbour.

Upon his arrival, he spoke with questions and answers with the school government of Demba Diop high school.

He recalled the importance of the teaching profession, which according to him, has more importance than any other profession. He urged young people to take more interest in studies.

Then the First Lady gave the first strokes of the broom, helped by President Diomaye who with a shovel removed the garbage to dump it in a wheelbarrow. He also planted a tree to help preserve the environment of the high school where he studied from 1998 to 2000.

The Demba Diop high school (LDD) was created by decree 86-12 of 02/01/86 which abolished the former Ecole Normale Régionale (ENR Demba DIOP).

The Demba Diop high school opened its doors in October 1985 with 405 students divided into eight 2nd year classes. The Principal was Amadou Sall Diop and the Censor was Marakary Danfakha. It was at the request of parents of students in the department of Mbour, who were having more and more difficulty sending their children to establishments in Thiès or Dakar, that the then Minister of National Education, Mr. Iba Der Thiam took the decision to transform the former Regional Normal School into a high school. The authorities have kept the name of the godfather Demba Diop, former general supervisor of the establishment who died in 1967.
