“There were pieces of flesh on the sidewalk”: an octogenarian attacked by a dog in the north of

The events occurred on Tuesday, September 17, in a district of La Grand-Combe, in the Cévennes. The victim was hospitalized.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 17, on Rue des Tuileries in La Grand-Combe, an 84-year-old woman, a resident of the neighborhood, was seriously injured in the arm with suspected fracture, after being attacked by a dog in the Riste neighborhood, requiring the intervention of the firefighters and the gendarmerie. The victim was taken to Alès hospital to receive treatment.

Escaped from his accommodation

A scene of horror described on the spot, “There were pieces of flesh on the sidewalk”testifies Norbert Jouvert, first deputy to Mayor Laurence Baldit. A man, a 34-year-old delivery driver and witness to the scene, was also injured, more lightly.

According to the town hall, the owner of the animal, a local resident, had gone shopping when the dog jumped out of the window of the house. The authorities requisitioned the owner’s two dogs, which were taken in by the Vallerargues animal centre, due to reasons of serious and immediate danger.

To the knowledge of the municipality, the dogs, whose category remains to be determined due to their crossbreeding, were not declared at the town hall.
