I was sitting on the porch when I heard tires screeching and sirens. Looking towards the lights on Arran Street, I saw the suspect’s vehicle followed by two patrol cars in pursuit. It was like in the movies. It was going fast. Sometimes you see it on and there we have it in the middle of town he commented.

The witness continues that the scene could have been more dramatic, but fortunately no one was injured.

Part of the chase took place on the sidewalk. This guy had no respect for human life. He just wanted to escape from the police.

Alain Laforest is co-owner of the Camille Sewing Center, located at the corner of Roseberrry and Subway streets.

From his business, he has a view of the exit of the interprovincial bridge. He was repairing a sewing mill when he heard a commotion coming from the street.

He recounts what he saw from his window and shows the tire tracks still visible on the asphalt.

I heard the sirens. I turned toward the street and saw the truck pass, followed by the police cars. The truck was going at full speed and he was having trouble turning corners. He made great detours so as not to hit people crossing the street. It was dangerous. People huddled together to avoid being hit. If the truck didn’t turn the corner, it was coming into my store he explained.
