The young man, indicted and imprisoned in the case of rape with acts of barbarism in Cherbourg, was convicted in the past for acts of violence.
The young man, suspected of having committed a “rape accompanied by acts of barbarism” on a young woman in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin on August 4, has already been sentenced by the courts in the past, our colleagues from BFM TV.
Five convictions
During his custody, Omar N. had ended up “laconally acknowledging the facts likely to be attributed to him”, according to the Cherbourg prosecution, which transmitted the procedure to the Coutances prosecution.
“It appears from the criminal record of the person concerned that he was sentenced five times by the children’s judge and the children’s court for acts of damage to property and violence”, specified the public prosecutor’s office of Coutances in a press release issued on Monday August 14 and taken up by South West.
The 18-year-old man was also targeted by a child rape procedure initiated in 2019. This “was dismissed by the prosecution in 2020, on the grounds that the offense was not sufficiently characterized”, continues the press release. According to police sources at BFM TVthese events took place in a medicalized socio-educational boarding school.
An investigation of his sister
“A sexual assault procedure against his sister is under investigation, without it being possible at this stage to determine whether or not these facts have been established”, adds the Coutances prosecution.
