On Monday, the President of the Republic goes to Mont-Saint-Michel to celebrate the millennium of the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel

Emmanuel Macron will visit the exhibition on Monday afternoon “The Archangel’s Abode”which retraces through some thirty objects the history of this jewel of French heritage, and will give a speech.
The famous rocky islet of the English Channel, connected to France by a simple road at high tide, is a place that symbolizes “everything that makes the French a people of conquerors and builders”said Thursday an adviser to the Head of State, setting the tone for a trip under the sign of a certain lyricism.
The busiest site in the country outside Ile-de-France, Mont-Saint-Michel attracted 2.8 million visitors last year, including 1.3 million for the abbey. It will not be closed to visitors for the occasion, but the prefecture will take “the necessary measures” for the move to happen “in the best possible conditions”underlined the Elysée.

Tuesday morning, Emmanuel Macron will travel to Calvados at the traditional Colleville-Montgomery ceremony near Ouistreham, on the landing site, to attend not the traditional June 6 ceremonies on the occasion of the 79th anniversary – planned for Ver -sur-Mer and presided over by the Minister for the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu – but at the annual commemoration organized by the School of Marine Fusiliers.

the last living Frenchman to have taken part in the landing, aged 100, green berets to students who have just successfully completed their commando course. His presence is a tribute to the 177 French who landed on June 6, 1944, grouped within the Commando Kieffer.
