Given the snowfall on the heights of the massifs, the department is placed in alert Avalanches level 4 out of 5 (strong risk) on the Ubaye and Haut-Verdon massifs.
A risk of avalanche with spontaneous departures is present, with a maximum risk of trigger by the passage of a skier or hiker.
The preventive measures to be applied are as follows:
- During dangerous periods, do not leave the tracks open, groomed and marked;
- If you practice hiking, ski touring or off-piste, you evolve at your own risk and engage the safety of rescuers in the event of an accident
- Consult nivological and meteorological forecasts
- Make sure you have been trained;
- Bring a DVA (Avalanche victims detector), a reflector, a shovel and an individual probe
- Do not go alone and indicate your route and your return time.
