Faced with the shortage of social housing, they ask the prefect of Hérault to “requisition those who are empty”

A person who has been AESH (assistance to students with disabilities) for twelve years, with three dependents, and who lives in private accommodation with a rent of € 790 for a salary of € 1,400, a woman with disabilities of 62 years who lives with a student girl, and who perceives the RSA (€ 700) and € 300 of APL for a rent of € 697 in the private sector … These are two Montpellier among many others who ask in vain social housing.

The committee “For the right for all to decent social housing” had written to the prefect, on December 17, to alert this shortage.

This Friday, January 24, they asked him to requisition empty housing against the shortage. A demonstration took place before the prefecture to denounce “the decline in the creation of social housing, which has passed from 125,000 per year in 2017 to less than 80,000 in 2024”.
