A season without a second round of the bagadoubli championship, at the Lorient Festival, does not have the same flavor in the world of ringers. At Bagad Bro Konk Kerne too, we are a little stunned, after the announcement of the difficulties of the Sonerion confederation and the cancellation of this unmissable August meeting.
However, there is no question of giving up among the musicians of the country of Concarneau. As proof, their firm intention to take part in the first (and only) round, which will take place on February 9, at Quartz, in Brest. And, in order to prepare it as best as possible, he will organize a rehearsal open to the public, on Sunday February 2, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. (doors opening at 2:30 p.m.), at the Cac.
“Do not demotivate the whole”
“The Nantes terroir is on the program,” recalls Martin Le Meur, the president of Bagad. Our suite will include a mazurka and two salt workers’ rings.” A work carried out by the bagad musical commission, with arrangements by penn-soner, Fabien Page.
While some Bagadù seem to be wondering about their participation in this Brest meeting, the people of Concarno intend to take part. “We have been preparing for this competition for weeks,” underlines Martin Le Meur. It would be a shame if all this was abandoned. We do not want to demotivate everyone, and in particular the ten or so young people who, over the past year, have joined the Bagad.”
-“We are better in Lorient”
As a reminder, last year, after a very disappointing first round in Brest, the bagad Bro Konk Kerne achieved a real feat, in Lorient, by achieving an incredible sixth place, allowing him to finish eleventh at the end of the two rounds and therefore to remain among the elite. “It’s true that very often, we are better in Lorient,” recognizes the president, who does not hide his disappointment at seeing the 2025 event canceled. “It will be a shame not to be able to live this moment. But the idea is to bounce back.”
Rebound how? By working even more on the creation that the bagad is preparing this year. A creation concocted in particular by Tudi Cariou, and which could well see the light of day earlier than expected, from the moment when time becomes free, without the preparation of the Lorient competition.
