Thursday January 16, 2025, the greeting ceremony of the mayor of Crécy-la-Chapellein Seine-et-, brought together a large crowd in the Altmann room. This event, which marks the start of the year 2025, was opened by the Municipal Youth Council, a great way to highlight the importance of youth and their involvement in the life of the municipality.

During her speech, the mayor, Christine Autenzio, took a moment to look back on the first two years of her mandate, marked by financial challenges and crucial choices. These two years were punctuated by decisive steps.

A tense budgetary situation

According to Christine Autenzio, the priority was to restore the finances of the municipalitya task made necessary by a strained budgetary situation. “It was two years of financial recovery carried out with determination and rigor,” she said, adding that difficult decisions had to be made in order to put the city “back in the green”.

It is in a context ofeconomic uncertaintyparticularly in the face of the absence of a state budget, a possible drop in grants, and falling real estate taxes, which Crécy-la-Chapelle is starting this year. “2025 requires us to move forward in a fog of uncertainty,” underlines the mayor, who warns that the council will therefore be “ prudent and realistic on the estimation of revenue “. Despite financial concerns, the mayor specified that the City was “resolutely pursuing the actions that the municipality needs”. Among the priority projectsseveral initiatives have been put forward.

Repairing and fighting floods

One of the most important concerns the fight against floods, which largely marked last year, and the management of runoff, with increased maintenance of banks, ditches, floodgates, and a call for cooperation from private owners. . During this ceremony, the public authorities also made announcements to strengthen the protection of the region's municipalities in the face of future climatic events.

At the same time, assessments and costings are still underway in order to be able to repair the damage linked to the major floods last October.

Floods: the urgency to act

The year 2024 will remain in the memories of the inhabitants of Crécy-la-Chapelle. The devastating floods, including the historic one in October, have plunged the city into a major crisis situation. 89 out of 100 businesses, hundreds of homes and nearly 200 buildings were seriously affected.
The mayor, Christine Autenzio, did not hide her concern about the succession of these events. “These tragedies repeated year after year can no longer be ignored. Since 2013, studies and files have been accumulating, but the work remains absent. During this time, the people of Créçois pay an unbearable price: their serenity, their local economy and sometimes even, their hope. The State must no longer look the other way. » His words underline the urgency of a concrete and rapid response to a situation which affects every aspect of the lives of residents. It is clear that today, “the patience of the Créçois has reached its limits”, underlined Christine Autenzio, for whom it is imperative to take action to ensure a more serene future for the inhabitants of Crécy-la-Chapelle .
In this context, Ugo Pezzetta, president of the Coulommiers Pays de Brie agglomeration community, expressed his desire to act quickly. “We can no longer wait for these numerous studies that are imposed on us. For years, we have been asking state services to make our lives easier so that we can move faster,” he declared. At the end of 2024, with the support of elected officials, a request was made to the prefect to obtain the capacity to act immediately on emergency work, without being constrained by long and complex administrative procedures. The prefect responded favorably to this request and gave authorization to begin urgent work immediately, necessary to best prevent future floods.
With the support of the Seine Grand Lac union, which will provide both technical and financial support, local authorities are preparing to launch work from 2025. These interventions will aim to protect the areas most vulnerable to recurring floods and to strengthen the city's resilience in the face of increasingly frequent climatic events.

Renovate the station and create a smooth path

In terms of road safety, the municipality plans tomajor road works and the creation of some places of additional parking.

Particular attention will be paid to the renovation of the station center since studies and works will be launched this year.

Improve the environment

The question of the environment and improving the living environment was also addressed. At the same time, efforts will be made to pursue a energy sobriety with the installation of new LED public lighting in buildings and streets.

With this in mind to preserve the living environment, Christine Autenzio also specified that she “ refused the building permit for the pharaonic project Pierreval and Édouard Denis » on the D34, a point which raised serious concerns for the Créçois.

Strengthen solidarity

The mayor also placed emphasis on maintaining actions of solidarity and support for different generations. She notably mentioned the establishment of courses for young people over 12 years old.

Furthermore, the subsidies to associations will be maintained, because they play an essential role in the life of the municipality.

L’support for seniors will also be strengthened, while promoting their intergenerational activity. It is also planned to create a shared senior housing in partnership with Domani.

Offer new services to residents

Finally, one of the most anticipated projects remains the start of swimming pool workled by the Coulommiers Pays de Brie urban community. This major project should offer local residents new recreational and sporting facilities. The works of demolition of the old building and its pools should begin in the coming weeks.

Christine Autenzio concluded her speech by reaffirming her commitment to all residents of the town, including those in the hamlets. The latter, far from the city center, will not be forgotten in future projects. “We will continue to work for the maintenance of the hamlets which are also at the heart of my commitments,” she insisted.
