A motorist falls asleep and finds himself going the wrong way on Highway 20

A driver fell asleep at the wheel on the highway and found himself going in the wrong direction on Thursday morning in Montérégie.

Around 8 a.m., the police were called to Highway 20, in the corner of St-Liboire, regarding a vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction of the road, indicated the spokesperson for the Sureté du Québec, Louis-Philippe Ruel.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found a man asleep at the wheel. He would have changed lanes when he was dozing off, it was said.

Fortunately, the incident did not cause any accidents.

The individual was escorted to drive in the right direction on the highway, said the SQ.

A statement of offense was also given to the driver.
