A big mafia dismantled at Air Senegal by the Criminal Investigations Division

According to Liberationa vast network of fraud around “Staff Travel” tickets, intended for Air Senegal employees, is currently in the sights of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC). This affair, revealed following an internal audit commissioned by the new general director of the company, El Hadji Tidiane Ndiaye, could lead to numerous arrests.

Liberation reports that the first arrest has already taken place. The head of the “Staff Travel” department was discreetly arrested by the DIC at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) before being placed in police custody. During her hearing, the latter admitted part of the facts, while implicating a former senior manager of Air Senegal in this fraudulent network.

The financial damage, according to the information obtained by Liberationis provisionally estimated at nearly 200 million CFA francs. Tickets intended for staff, supposed to benefit from a reduced rate or free as part of employment benefits, were diverted and fraudulently resold on the black market. Certain commercial tickets would also have been sold via parallel channels, without the revenue being returned to the airline.
