“We must act responsibly.” On January 16, only eight socialist deputies voted for the motion of censure presented by the Insoumiswith the support of environmentalists and communists, against the government of François Bayrou.
Without the vote of the RN (the party had already announced that it would not vote for censure)the majority of the 577 deputies necessary to bring down the government would in any case have had no chance of being achieved.
A little earlier, the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faurehad made the position of his troops official, declaring not to have “the shameful negotiation” and welcoming the concessions that his party managed to “wrench” from the government.
An approach welcomed by the president of the Radical Left Party (PRG) Haute-Garonne Laurent Chérubin: “The systematic rejection and censorship of any government action, without distinction, cannot constitute a real political project”.
For the mayor of Labège, the political posture imposed by LFI fuels the crisis of confidence in the political class, already considered too far from the realities on the ground. A political line in which the PRG has decided not to participate since 2022.
“We must act responsibly”
If he is not satisfied with all the commitments made by the government, Laurent Chérubin calls for “acting responsibly” by seeking a consensus to respond to the urgency of the despair of farmers, the concern of teachers and the explosion of the health system.
-Faced with social, economic and environmental challenges, “the social democratic left has a crucial role to play by bringing a pragmatic and ambitious vision, capable of reconciling social justice and economic efficiency”estimates the vice-president of Sicoval.
In this context, the PRG, faithful to its values and its center-left positioning, says it is ready to take its responsibilities within a common approach of a left united again wishing to offer concrete solutions to citizens.
A year and a half before the municipal elections, the mayor of Labège is therefore calling for the emergence of a left united, pragmatic and carrying concrete responses adapted to the expectations of citizens “in which the PRG has its place”.
