Jean-Claude Planque had been a teacher at the Berny-sur-Noye school from 1960 to 1992. He had taught several generations of schoolchildren there. The former teacher, who lived in Chirmont, left us recently.
Jean-Claude Planque, former public school teacher in Berny-sur-Noye and resident of Chirmont, died recently, on January 10. He would be 91 years old on February 17.
Born in Amiens (in 1934), he had lived in Chirmont (152 inhabitants) since 1993 and lost his wife on November 1st.
The Samarian had entered teaching after returning from the Algerian war, in which he had participated from 1957 to 1959. “ I became a substitute teacher in 1959. My first position was to be that of a substitute teacher (I did not go to normal school and I had the baccalaureate) in Ainval-Septoutre (hamlets of Grivesnes). I refused this position because there was no accommodation. Then I obtained a replacement position in May 1959 at the boys' school in Ailly-sur-Noye, rue Pellieux. I had a CM2 class. »
Then Jean-Claude Planque was called in October to work at Louvrechy, for the year 1959-1960: “JHe was not yet established. I had a single class, with children from 6 years old to the school certificate (13-14 years old).»
« I had up to 40 schoolchildren, all gathered in the same class »
At the start of the school year in October 1960, he was appointed teacher in Berny-sur-Noye, at the head of a single class (CP, CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2, certificate of studies): “ I became a starter. I was 33 when I arrived and I worked there from 1960 to 1992. I had up to 40 schoolchildren, all in the same class. I was the last teacher at Berny's school where I had official accommodation and where I ended my career. I loved making the students work, children from Berny and the area. I was, it is true, demanding. »
The last teacher of the Beny-sur-Noye school
A memory that had marked him? ” On the last day of school of my career, after class at 5:30 p.m., the children came with their parents and grandparents. I was moved. I cried. “
This married man and father of two daughters, grandfather of five children, and great-grandfather, told us in January 2022: “ When I pass the school again, I think about the thirty-three years I spent there. I see former students again, who come to greet me. They seem to have recognition. I am happy and touched to see them again. “
-The mayor of Chirmont very moved
Jean-Michel Van Ooteghem, mayor of Chirmont, expresses great sadness after the death of this village figure. During the funeral, in the Saint-Martin church in Ailly-sur-Noye, on Friday January 17, the elected official declared in front of a very large assembly: “ It is with deep emotion that I speak before you today in the church of Ailly-sur-Noye. You will agree, this is undoubtedly the first time that Jean Claude brings us together without the good humor that he knew how to communicate so well to others. As a teacher, it was a true vocation for him, because he firmly believed in each student, in their ability to succeed with a little attention, encouragement and guidance.
He was very involved and strict but this rigor was imbued with kindness and concern for the well-being of his students (…) »
Contacted by us, Jean-Michel Van Ooteghem confided to us: “ I really liked Jean-Claude. He was always moderate and constructive. I went to visit it at least once a week. I will miss him very much. »
