Carts full of unsorted letters accumulate at the industrial mail platform (PIC) in Cestas (Gironde). “We cannot process mail from seven departments, we lack people and machines,” warns François Daurel, head of the CGT section of the Cestas PIC. According to the union, more than a million letters are currently blocked there, some dating from November.
A figure denied by the management of La Poste which “notes a backlog of letters on this platform” but “to a much lesser extent” than the million. The delays mainly concern “the “manual” mail flow, which does not pass through the sorting machines, and for which we deplore a delay of several days”, indicates the management for whom “this delay can be explained by absences unannounced personnel losses linked to seasonal epidemics (flu). »
