In mid-November, an action plan to counter drug trafficking in Liège was launched by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the Liège police zone.
Two months later, the prosecution made an initial assessment of the operation:
10 people suspected of dealing were deprived of their liberty and referred to the public prosecutor. 21 consumers were sanctioned on site thanks to an immediate collection system. In addition, 11 people illegally staying on Belgian territory were arrested.
“Since this first operation, several other interventions have taken place, confirming the effectiveness of the coordinated actions. These efforts always focus on the city center, without excluding a gradual extension to the entire territory of the City of Liège. The people suspected of dealing are, for the most part, already known to the courts. This highlights the importance of identifying these repeat offenders and applying appropriate sanctions to them.“, comments Prosecutor’s Office of the King of Liège
