Australian Open > Paul McNamee on Alcaraz, beaten again by Djokovic: “Believe it or not, he is still finding his way. I can't criticize him”

Asked about Sports club after Novak Djokovic's victory against Carlos Alcaraz on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, former world number 1 in doubles, Paul McNamee, did not want to emphasize the Spaniard's mistakes.

“Oh, he’s too young. 21 years old! I can't criticize him, he's a boy who plays with his heart and who is destined to become a great tennis player. He is 21 years old and still finding his way (despite already having four Grand Slam titles), believe it or not. Also remember how Novak played against him in – it was the best match Novak had played in years, the match of the season in my opinion – so it makes sense that Carlos would feel both respect and nervousness about Novak's abilities. We must respect the greatness of Novak in this match, rather than looking for faults in Alcaraz. Carlos is going to win the Australian Open one day. »
