Pierre Poilievre said a Conservative government would reduce the number of federal public servants, but he wouldn’t mind if they worked remotely, as long as the job gets done.
When - asked him on Tuesday if US President Donald Trump’s decree forcing federal civil servants to return to the office five days a week was a good idea, Mr. Poilievre replied that what mattered was knowing if the civil servants did the job.
However, he felt that the work was not currently being done within the federal government. He wants civil servants to be given clear tasks and better supervised to ensure they actually do their jobs.
Mr. Poilievre also believes that Canada has far too many civil servants.
-He argued that the federal Liberals had partly increased the deficit by hiring 110,000 public servants.
