Lachgar relies on the Sahrawi Peace Movement to “counteract” the Polisario – Telquel.ma

Ln December 21 in Rabat, representatives of the Sahrawi Movement for Peace (MSP) attended, alongside several left-wing parties from the four corners of the globe, the world council of the Socialist International, headed by the Socialist Union of popular forces (USFP). A month later, the Secretary General of the Rose Party, Driss Lachgar, met at the USFP premises in Rabat, explains to us why he supported the Sahrawi movement’s membership in the Socialist International.

“What distinguishes the Sahrawi Movement for Peace from the Polisario Front is their desire for peaceful dialogue regarding this crisis”, he tells us. He believes that the MSP, which has become an observer member (in the same way as the Polisario) of the International, is the bearer of a new democratic and peaceful dynamic, therefore representing an opportunity for the kingdom to advance its national cause and dismiss the Polisario Front, which proclaims itself the sole representative of the Sahrawi population.
