The next Roanne-Thiers will only take place in a little over 11 months (December 6). It already promises to be historic. This will be the 100th edition of this legendary march.
To mark the occasion, the Groupe Montagnard Roannais, in charge of the organization, will publish a book retracing the history of Roanne-Thiers or Thiers-Roanne depending on the year. The GMR has set up a participatory prize pool to finance the work and make its sale price as accessible as possible.
The bet of the century will be published in the fall
Since 2020, volunteers have been working on this project. “They recovered a lot of documentation, reports, videos, testimonies…” explains Patrick Pardon, co-president of the Groupe Montagnard Roannais.
The association then took steps to put everything into shape. Printed in June, the work of approximately 120 pages and entitled The bet of the century should be released in September or October.
The GMR, which was able to count on the help of subsidies for this publication, is counting on a thousand copies being put on sale. “We hope to sell it for between 15 and 20 euros,” says Patrick Pardon. A work which represents a budget of 22,000 euros in total.
-More generally, Roanne-Thiers 2025 is already in the minds of all the volunteers. The GMR and its forces are considering particular arrangements for this next edition which promises to be very popular and which will start from the Scarabée in Riorges.
