Morocco plans an investment of 96 billion dirhams (MMDH) by 2030 to modernize its railway infrastructure and improve the quality of services, announced the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh.

This plan includes in particular 53 billion dirhams for the high-speed line between Kenitra and Marrakech, 29 billion dirhams for the purchase of new trains, and 14 billion dirhams for the construction or rehabilitation of 40 stations. It is part of a broader vision for 2040 aimed at connecting 43 cities, 12 airports and 12 ports, with an expected impact of 300,000 jobs created.

The minister also highlighted the development of a railway industrial ecosystem in order to strengthen Morocco’s autonomy in this sector, in particular through the creation of a local train manufacturing unit.

Furthermore, 42 billion dirhams will be invested in the extension of airports, with a major modernization of Casablanca airport and the construction of a new terminal in Rabat-Salé.
