As in many regions of France, the Grand Hôpital de l’Est Francilien (Ghef)which brings together the sites of Meaux, Marne-la-Vallée, Coulommiers and Jouarre, faced a resurgence of case of flu in this winter season.

“We were in tension between Christmas and New Year’s Day with 180 adult passages daily, compared to 100 usually,” remarks Jérôme Goeminne, the general director of Ghef. For two weeks, a crisis unit took place every day. But since January 4, we have started to decline. »

Downward trend

A decline which is confirmed day by day and which already allows us to return to normal. No triggering of the white plan therefore, but rather a hospital system in tension, which allows awareness of medical teams and the freeing up of beds in the departments.

“In Meaux and Marne-la-Vallée, some patients were waiting on stretchers in the corridor. Of course, they were monitored by a reinforced team but the situation was not acceptable,” continues the director.

So, in order to guarantee better treatment, the Coulommiers site, where the increase in activity was much less, ensured the reception of patients. “This synergy between the medical teams worked well,” concludes Jérôme Goeminne. Which confirms the essential role of this site within Ghef. »

Faced with the flu, doctors recall the importance of preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus. It is strongly recommended to get vaccinated.
