“A shameful act”, it is with these terms that the town hall d’Amancy, commune of Haute-Savoie describes the theft of its communal cauldron, in a message shared on Facebook on January 18, 2025. The offense took place on Friday January 12 and Saturday January 13, according to our colleagues from Dauphiné Libéré.
Emptied of its contents
The large copper object was temporarily installed near the town hall, although it usually adorned the church square.
To recover it, the thieves emptied the cauldron of all the earth it contained.
-It could be that the perpetrators of this theft carried out this act in a desire to resell the copper. Numerous thefts of this equipment are recorded each year.
An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie.
