Great moment of emotion, this weekend in Guadeloupe, for the man who was one of the best defenders in the world in the 70s and 80s. The Variétés Club de France helped him inaugurate the “Marius Trésor Stadium”.
A few days after celebrating his 75th birthday, the legendary central defender of the French team, scorer during the famous France – Germany of the 1982 World Cup, inaugurated the Marius Trésor Stadium, in Sainte-Anne, on his native island.
World champions, an MMA star… It was the Variétés Club de France in its heyday
To pay tribute to him, his great friend Jacques Vendroux, manager of the Variétés Club de France, brought together a line-up of stars. There we found in particular the World Champions Robert Pirès and Christian Karembeu, around the legendary Alain Giresse (passer on Trésor's goal in the semi-final of the 82 World Cup), but not only that.
-Floran Malouda, Steve Savidan, Sydney Govou, Frédéric Piquionne, Floran Sinama-Pongole and the MMA champion, Cyril Gane, were also there, with an (anecdotal) victory for the VCF 8-3 against the former Juventus de Sainte-Anne, a club in which Marius Trésor played throughout his youth, before leaving at 19 for Ajaccio, then wearing the jerseys of Marseille and from Bordeaux. All proceeds from the match were donated to the Guadeloupean club's football school.
