Upon taking office on January 13, 2025, the new sub-prefect and chief of staff of the prefecture of Vaucluse Thibault de Cacqueray found on his desk the files followed by his predecessor, Vincent Naturel who left for the Paris police headquarters.

His appointment in Vaucluse, at the prefecture where his mentor Jean Castex was secretary general for a time (1999-2001), was received as very good news. We can even say, according to his wishes formulated from the Court of Auditors where he officiated at the Chamber of Security Services and Public Order, that he is well served.
« I requested a position as cabinet director in a prefecture and in a territory with high stakesin a pleasant setting. I am delighted, the challenges are numerous and correspond entirely to my desire for operational functions in the field. The priorities of the new sub-prefect Thibault de Cacqueray :
- Fight against drug trafficking : « I was able to see that the phenomenon is the multiplicity of deal points, but there is also a total mobilization of security forces to hinder the traffickers. ».
- Closure of grocery stores at night and fight against money laundering : « I also noted the problem of rue Thiers which is the subject of particular monitoring ».
- Domestic violence : « It is a strong axis, my predecessor counted each morning, referring to the summary of the night's operations, at least 4 or 5 important facts on the subject ».
- Anger of farmers : « The ambition, and this was clearly said to me, is to maintain a permanent dialogue between the prefecture and farmers. This subject interests me, I am from the Agen region which was the epicenter of the latest demonstrations ».
- Road safety : « There are several directions of work, including the case of motorized two-wheelers which represent 37 % of deaths on the roads of Vaucluse and particularly around Ventoux. And risky behavior, the figures for the year 2024 are important, 41 road deaths against 28 the previous year. I have already met the services in charge of road safety, numerous preventive actions will be organized ».
- The major events of 2025 : “The challenges in 2025 are significant, with the BA open days 115 of Orange (June 28 and 29), the Avignon Festival of course and the Tour de France which has two stages in Vaucluse and whose working meetings are scheduled from this month of January.
