The Natural Heritage and Biodiversity program, supported by the Heritage Foundation and created in 2009, has already supported more than 380 projects to combat the erosion of biodiversity and climate change across France.
The 20 new 2024 winners of the program are located in 13 regions of France and share an exceptional overall budget of one million euros. For the Poitou-Charentes region, the project selected is the preservation of the ecological continuity of the Crevant mill in Thouars. He thus receives an endowment of €60,000.
Restore the pavement
The Crevant mill roadway is a hydraulic structure located on the Thouet. It dates from the same period as the construction of the wheat mill, around 1840. The Thouet river is home to many fish species whose circulation is currently restricted by the roadway, which has suffered damage threatening the stability of the structure.
-The project therefore aims to restore the roadway and create crossing equipment to maintain the hydraulic operation of the mill. The work will take place from February 2025 to December 2026.
