Domestic tourism recorded 8.5 million nights in classified hotels in 2024

The House of Representatives, the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, indicated that the number of nights of internal tourism in classified hotels reached around 8.5 million in 2024, representing 30% of the total recorded in these establishments.

In response to an oral question on the promotion of internal tourism, posed by the Socialist – Opposition Ittihadi group, Monday in the House of Representatives, Ammor stressed that the main issue is to “promote internal tourism throughout the year, and not seasonally, in order to allow Moroccans to benefit from the tourist assets of their country”.

Domestic tourism, she continued, has become a fundamental pillar of the national tourism sector, highlighting its growing importance during the health crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, the minister specified that the 2023-2026 roadmap devoted two thematic sectors to internal tourism (“Seaside” and “Nature & discovery” with the aim of developing new tourism products adapted to the power of purchase of Moroccan tourists, while benefiting from cross-functional sectors and structuring projects.

She also indicated that this roadmap includes a set of measures aimed at improving connectivity between the different Moroccan tourist destinations in order to open up certain regions.

Among these measures, Ammor cited the launch of new domestic airlines, the encouragement of investments in the tourist products most demanded by Moroccan tourists, as well as the strengthening of the promotion of internal tourism through the “Ntla9awfbladna” campaign.
