The vitriolic outing of the mayor of Lévis Gilles Lehouillier concerning the 3e link shows that no one believes the CAQ anymore, say the opposition parties. “Let them watch us go,” replies François Legault.

In an explosive interview with The Journalpublished Monday in our pages, the mayor of Lévis takes a shot at the Coalition Avenir Québec.
Gilles Lehouillier, who has been calling for a new highway link between the two banks for years, now says he is convinced that the project will never see the light of day with the CAQ.
Angry, the fiery mayor asserts that the 3e link is an electoral “lure” for François Legault. The latter would have revived the project to prevent deputies from resigning, believes Mr. Lehouillier, who will take stock of his political future within two to three weeks.
“Let him watch us go,” replied the Prime Minister, during a press briefing in the Laurentians, Monday afternoon.
The project of 3e link between Quebec and Lévis, “it is clear to us that we are going to achieve it, then we will achieve it as quickly as possible, then the machine is in motion,” said Mr. Legault.
“Fumistry”
If the opposition parties have divergent views on the 3e link, they agree with the mayor of Lévis on one thing: “no one believes the government anymore on the 3e link,” summarized PQ member Pascal Paradis.
“The CAQ has no credibility regarding this project, which is a fable that it uses for electoral purposes,” reacted the member for Jean-Talon, who agrees with the mayor of Lévis to say that the 3e link is a “decoy”.
-“We agree: the CAQ government must stop its reheated electoral nonsense and admit that it will not make the 3e link,” claims Mr. Paradis.
Shared anger
On the side of the official opposition, Monsef Derraji says he shares the anger of the mayor of Lévis at a government which “has delivered nothing in the region”. He doubts the seriousness behind the international call for tenders launched in the fall by the Minister of Transport Geneviève Guilbault, who lost all her credibility with this file, observes the Liberal MP.
“Even the mayor of Lévis, a historic ally of the CAQ in the 3e link, now turns its back on François Legault,” notes solidarity MP Sol Zanetti, who would rather like an SRB between Quebec and Lévis.
“The Prime Minister has been fooling the people of the National Capital for too long with his 3e useless link,” laments Mr. Zanetti.
“The mayor of Lévis is right: the CAQ will never build the 3e link and the three other parties in the National Assembly are against,” reacted the leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec, Éric Duhaime, on Facebook.
“People of the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches: we have been made enough of by these lying politicians,” added Mr. Duhaime, emphasizing that his party is also the only one to oppose the tramway.
Minister Guilbault did not react to the comments of the mayor of Lévis at the time of publication.
