If the application can already be used since June 2024 to present your identity document, passport or driving license, in a paperless way, you still had to show your ticket to the controller, via the SNCF Connect application, or physically . From now on, travelers will simply be able to present a QR code generated by Identity, which combines the two titles into one.

Only on TGV Inoui

“The QR Code integrated into the digital identity card is encrypted and contains the traveler's name (used name if present on your identity card), first name and date of birth. These data are communicated when purchasing the TGV Inoui transport ticket,” explains the SNCF. “This is the only information shared with SNCF Voyageurs, and necessary for the conductor to find the corresponding train ticket with the identity of the traveler as provided during their purchase,” she specifies.

In this way, inspectors will be able to more quickly establish the link between the identity of the person and the train ticket purchased. This functionality will currently only be available on TGV Inoui. For Ouigo or TER, you will have to continue to show your ticket via the SNCF Connect application or in person.
