Morocco is Spain’s third trading partner outside the EU after the United States and the United Kingdom, and hosts nearly 1,000 Spanish companies, said Benyaich, during a conference on the theme: “Morocco-Relations Spain: historical keys and current challenges”, organized on Friday in Madrid, specifying that these Spanish companies have made investments of 2 billion euros and created nearly 20,000 jobs in strategic sectors of the kingdom.
Likewise, Moroccan companies, like OCP, are strengthening their investments in Spain, contributing to the mutual prosperity of the two countries, added the Moroccan ambassador in Madrid who highlighted the explosion of trade between Morocco and Spain in 2024, with more than 260 weekly flights, 60 daily maritime connections and a record 3 million Spanish visitors, an increase of 16% compared to 2023. Figures which position Spain as the second source market for tourists to Morocco.

-In terms of university cooperation, “nearly 12,000 Moroccan students continue their studies in Spain, representing 10% of foreign students in the Iberian country”, further indicated Benyaich, welcoming the growing complementarity between Morocco and Spain, a guarantee stability in the region. The diplomat did not fail to cite the joint organization of the 2030 World Cup by Morocco, Spain and Portugal as proof of this active cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Morocco and Spain maintain historic relations and share common strategic interests, recalled the Moroccan diplomat, specifying that “the links between the two Kingdoms are based on fruitful cooperation and permanent dialogue, based on mutual respect and a leaf ambitious road”. For his part, the head of the department of Hispanic studies at the Mohammed 1st University of Nador, Hassan Arabi, insisted on the importance of maintaining strong ties with the Moroccan community established in Spain in order to strengthen cultural and human exchanges between both countries.
