Romain Taofifenua package for the gathering of the XV of

Romain Taofifenua is forfeited for the gathering of the XV of for the first match of the Six Nations Tournament. The second row of Racing 92 from Wallis and Futuna is replaced by Lyonnais Mickaël Guillard, the French rugby federation announced on Sunday.

This is bad news for the Blues staff. Romain Taofifenua (34 years old, 53 caps), came off in the 45th minute during the meeting between Racing 92 and the Stormers this Saturday January 18. The second line of Wallisian and Futunian origin appeared with an ice pack on one knee.

Even if his coach Stuart Lancaster had wanted to be reassuring after the match won by the Ile-de-France residents, Romain Taofifenua is forfeited for the gathering of the XV of France intended to prepare for the 2025 edition of the Six Nations Tournament.

He is replaced by Mickaël Guillard (24 years old, 5 caps). The latter had been a substitute in the last three matches of the Blues this fall, for three victories against Japan, New Zealand and Argentina. Injured in an ankle at the end of November with Lou, Guillard has not played again since this injury.

The first training sessions in Marcoussis are scheduled for this Monday. The XV of France faces Wales to open the Tournament on January 31 at the Stade de France.
