Importante intervention, Saturday January 18, 2025on the port of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche).
In a refrigerated trailer
Around 11 p.m., in the area where the trailers are parked near the gas station, theBorder police arrested sixteen peopledont nine minors et a pregnant womanaccording to information from La Presse de la Manche. They were in a trailer refrigeratedneither accompanied nor towed by another vehicle.
The nine minors were taken into care by Child Welfare.
The pregnant woman was taken to the Pasteur hospital in Cherbourg by the emergency services, firefighters from Tourlaville, Cherbourg and Smur, present on site. The other fifteen people were unhurt.
-The remaining six adults were taken to the border police for questioning.
An ongoing investigation
According to the first elements of theinvestigation, the sixteen undocumented migrants who were in the trailer were said to be fromEritrea orEthiopia.
Which vehicle towed the trailer? Where did they leave from? Where did the sixteen people get in? An investigation is underway to clarify these gray areas.
