a single motorcycle involved in an accident on the A9 motorway, one dead, one seriously injured

Traffic dramathis Sunday January 19, 2025, around 8 a.m., on theautoroute A9in the Montpellier-Nîmes direction, at the exit ramp of Gallargues-le-Montueux, in the Gard, on the edge of Hérault.

In undetermined circumstances which are the subject of an investigation by the gendarmes of the Gallargues motorway platoon, the driver of a large engine motorcycle which was carrying a passenger suddenly lost control of his machine. The motorcycle was found dislocated when the firefighters arrived. Sdis 30 surrounding barracks and a medical team.

The two seriously injured motorcyclists were lying lifeless after a spectacular slide and hitting an obstacle along the A9. One, aged 24, who was in cardiorespiratory arrest, succumbed to his injuries despite a long attempt at resuscitation. He was, in fact, declared dead by a Smur-Samu doctor dispatched from Lunel hospital.

The second, aged 26, was admitted to the emergency room of the Carémeau University Hospital in Nîmes as an absolute emergency. The investigation by gendarmes from the departmental road safety squadron -EDSR 30- is underway to determine the exact cause of this violent exit from the road. The first findings and hearings attest that the motorcyclist who was driving alone lost control, no third party being involved. It is not known whether he was the deceased or whether it was his passenger who died.
