You once again beat your French junior record (12'37''36 compared to 12'39''56 in 2024). How was the race?
The race went very well. I left really faster than expected, so I told myself that I really had good legs to keep up the pace. In the middle of the race, I decelerated a little, but my two coaches were on the side, which allowed me to scrape the last seconds on the last laps.
You're off to a great start to the season.
Yes, it's a great start to the season. My previous record was almost a year ago. I tell myself that within a month, for the French championships, I could be in good shape and try to go under 12'30''.
You are resuming your season at the Brittany championships, as in 2024, where you had already broken a French record. For what ?
It comes at a good time of the season, a month before the French championships, it really helps to assess current form. It's a competition that I like to do because I meet my friends. It's really cool. Plus, the atmosphere was great, there were a lot of people.
In 2024, you completed 10 km, where you shattered the French junior record. Since your first French record a year ago in Rennes, almost everything has changed for you.
A year ago, I broke the French 3,000m record for the first time in 12'50, then I did 12'39. Afterwards, I focused on the 10 km and I really flourished in the different competitions that I did, and that really made me gain in maturity, in experience also for the next competitions. It was a 100% successful year and if I could have it again this year that would be great. This year, I can aim even higher, and why not a podium at the European Championships in July.
What has changed in your training over the past year, with the move to 10 km?
I do long weeks, over 60 km. At the beginning, it was still complicated, sometimes, in winter, to have to go out for 15 km in the evening, alone, in the rain. When I saw that I was performing well in competition and that it was a distance that I loved to prepare for, with specific training, I understood that it was really my distance. I can't wait to do it again this year.
-How are your training weeks going?
I'm still in high school, I have to mix studies and sports. I'm doing six to seven workouts a week, with substance-based preparation. I decided not to prepare the gym a lot this winter, to really be at my best in the 10 km. So it works, even when I'm not preparing to make new records. It also allows me to gain speed.
You have competition in Brittany with Léna Auvray. Do you ever train together?
We have roughly the same level, so we help each other. We live less than an hour apart, so she comes from time to time to Saint-Malo or I go to Fougères. We like it.
